Why an enemy?

why do theocratic regimes need an enemy to justify their mandate to govern? monotheism isn't an issue in the 21st century, general sustainability is does that not take progressive representative government? isn't the unversal direction of monotheim for developing porgressive accord? if so, theocracy and democracy are congruent and if so, isn't it time Israel made peace with Iran?

Well, first of all, Iran still refuses to recognize Israel's right to exist, so there are no grounds to approach them negotiating peace.  Ahmadinejad still expresses intent of wiping them off the map......and he's just Khomeini's chief puppet

yes I realise that, but does not that concern the relationship of animus between the Palestinians and Israelis? It seems with every theocratic regime there is an enemy in the relationship equation to justify the divine right of political power. Even within Iran ... is it not so? Who's fault is this electon crisis this time, if not the 'great satan' of America now it's the British. So rally around the sword and fight for the right of might, without the evil you don't get the good ... and that justifies the Ayaollah's holy authority, and the President's position? Does that justify designating Jerusalem the capital of Israel signifying the Jewish mandate of monotheism beyond the line of prophecy per se, and the universal direction of accord this city ostensibly denotes to the world? That used to make sense when polytheism was an issue way back when, but the question of true beleivers in the one God is resolved in the 21st century, and I don't see how it can be used to justify political power .. nor statehood.

Progressives also 'need an enemy'.  This is a socialist ploy and has been key in mobilizing all nations in that direction.  Seems to involve 'mob psychology'.  If you can get a mob flowing the direction you want, acting, without depth of thought, and can control this action, you can be a communist leader.  Too bad the current  US president & his cabinet use ploys like this to divide their own nation's freedoms from it's citizens.  They have done quite a few unconstitutional responses to the 'crisis'' that they daren't waste.....................

exactly, I agree thanks so the challenge is: how to form a trend devoid of an enemy. Isn't that what monotheism ostensibly does ... unite for the common good ... say general sustanability? So I work towards the geopolitical framework of systemic accord. I think they are a progressive mechansm of politics thaty transcends the enemy dichtomoy. Trick is that's the regional framework, so we're back to the Iran/Israel problem. Well, the environment transcends all that. Is Israel in the grip of a drought? I know Iran is undergoing the biggest dust storm on record.

Israel is in a drought as well. The Sea of Galilee has reached the lowest level on record (this is our main source of drinking water) and we have not had adequate rain for the last 5 winters.

To say nothing, especially when speaking, is half the art of diplomacy.

The relationship between Israel & Iran is key.  Don't forget that Hamas and quite a few other 'groups' still depend on Iran to keep funding their proxy war against Israel & the west...............

There's only one problem with monotheism.  It requires everybody to share the same beliefs.  I'm not compromising my beliefs to submit to any lesser ones, and most of us have a similar stance.  Democrat acorn party wants to promote the 'humanist' 'statist' religion, with high priest Obama doing all the thinking for us lessers.  Ain't no way that'll happen......................

belief in what? doesn't a belief in the omnipotent eternal and infinite transcendence of one universal force underpin monotheism in respect of every religion? isn't the purpose of this belief to direct humanity into greater evolution according to principles that transcend our comprehension? Who can understand the powers of eternity? doesn't global general sustainability derive through such a belief? if we could understand the global environment and manage our resources in respect of forces transcending our comprehension, would not future generations have at the very least, a life? it's no longer a question of different faiths has not every dimension of the world received propehtic guidance, based on the principles of monotheism? so why are we still fighting each other, when our world, well we're all in this together, is decaying at our own mismanagement and wilful violation of principles of monotheism?
