My email account has been compromised.

Lately I've been getting mailer daemon emails saying a message has failed to be sent, as well as notifications from my friends that I have been sending spam emails/ junk mail. I don't know what's going on, and I suspect it was some kind of inadvertently downloaded worm, virus, or spyware. What should I do? I worry I'll lose my e-mail address.

Please make sure you have recent anti-virus software installed, run it frequently and change your passwords often! More info can be found here .

 

To help protect yourself against online threats, make sure you have updated antivirus software (available at safety.aol.com) and scan your PC. You can also try this one at http://www.superantispyware.com/ .

Hijacked Account

I doubt your account was hijacked. It sounds like your e-mail address was forged on someone else's messages. There is nothing you can do about that.

That is how it used to happen. This new Aol email system isn't working for me. I read an email and click forward, then I click my contact list so I can send it to multiple people and after I identify who I want to send it to I can't get back to the msg to click send. HELP
