I haven't seen the play, but I have been an Elton John fan from the very beginning. I remember when he first came out with "Your Song". (Yes, that's how old I am!)
I was a big fan of early Elton John, through "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road". He was dynamic in concert, with great costumes and handstands on the piano keyboard. The "Captain Fantastic" was released, and "Philadelphia Freedom" became a top 40 hit, and for me he just seemed to lose the edge. However, I've seen him perform live a half-dozen times and would go see him again in a heartbeat. He is a great performer, usually three hours non-stop, and the sound quality is excellent. Elton is a true showman, a tremendous talent, and a strong influence of my great memories of college and the early 70's.
