A fine white dust collects on my TV screen almost daily.  It's an older color TV about 15 years old.  What's going on?  Would this happen with a newer TV?

Electrostatic charge on your CRT TV is attracting dust out of the air. This is normal.

A flat screen TV will not have as much of a problem.

Love one another.

Do you have a humidfyer in your house? I have noticed the same prome once i started using mine about 30 feet away from my new tv.

I have the same problem and I'm not sure it's simply a matter of static electricity. The substance has a distinct odor and also collects on the portion of the case that's adjacent to the screen. If it was simply static, it would accumulate every kind of dust, not just white dust and it would not have a distinct odor.

The trick to it is to make sure it's mounted properly so it's probably best to have a professional do it. If you buy one from somewhere like Best Buy they may do free installation or for a nominal fee.
