About a 14 months ago, My fiance and I were living in the dark for about ten days due to a major ice storm. After the power had already been out, a tree branch came down and pulled on the line connecting to the house. It ripped the weather-head off the side of the house and pulled the meter box off the wall. I spoke to the electric company and they stated that anything attached to the wall, save for the electrical line itself, was our responsibility. That meant the weather head, the meter, and the internal electrical lines themselves. The powerline outside was theirs. I believe it's normal policy in the event that an mistake might be made or "manufactured" which might result in a lawsuit over damaged property or loss of life. It may be that your electric company is giving you the real truth on the matter. Sorry to be the dearer of bad news, but there it is. Have a great day.
