What is the specific GPR required at graduation to ...

What is the specific GPR required at graduation to be reconized with a green and white tassel when you graduated from Plymouth State Univ. in NH.  Also, I noticed many graduates were wearing long braided cords around their necks (several different color combinations), some had one , others wore more than one, while most graduates did not have a cord.  What is the significance of the accessory?

No replies, after 28 days ... so I will add GENERAL INFO (since I do not know the specifics for the particular university and it varies at different universities).

The tassel traditional color was black.  However, some schools use their school colors.  And some use special color tassels to signify membership in an HONOR SOCIETY (or some academic award).

The cords are usually signify GRADUATION WITH HONORS (honors, high honors or highest honors, giving 3 different colors usually),

What GPA (grade point average) is required to earn the various levels (usually 3) of DEGREES award WITH HONORS varies at different universities (and can even vary at one college depending on the major or the particular degree type).

The honors typically fall into approximately these ranges:

3.0 or 3.25 (on a 4.0 = all As scale) required to earn a degree "with HONOR"

3.5 GPA (which means half A's and half B's earned) is often the level that will be HIGH HONORS (but it might go up to as much as 3.75).

To get a degree with HIGHEST HONORS (magna cum laude) will require somewhere in the 3.8 to 4.0 GPA (varied by university).

GPA CALCULATIONS:  Generally speaking *  ...

All B's = 3.0 GPA;

1/4 A's and 3/4s B's = 3.25 GPA;

1/2 A's and 1/2 B's = 3.5 GPA;

1/4 B's and 3/4 A's = 3.75

All A's = 4.0 GPA

* above assumes equal weight ("quality points" or "credit hours") for each A and each B
