Discuss Glengarry Glenn Rice's answer to: Economic outlook for Broadband

How recession proof, if at all, is broadband? What factors will have the most impact in the next year or two?

Recession proof? I don't think broadband is immune to the negative effects of a bad economy. However, Internet businesses seem better off then brick-and-mortar businesses. Many online businesses also have debts, but they can pay them sooner because they don't have to spend so much on their overhead.

On the consumer side, the Internet seems the best place to find work. Costs for broadband connections aren't that expensive. Certainly, when you compare broadband plans, say in Australia, you'll see that providers offer a value-for-value service to their customers. IN less than 3 months, I'm sure users will recover the costs of installation and the monthly rates from working online as freelance graphics designers, web writers, social media marketers, or programmers.
