I tried to learn to play the guitar when I was a teenager. Despite many lessons I just couldn't pick it up. Isn't it true that musical talent is something you are born with?

It is true that some people can learn to play an instrument faster than others can.

However, unless people are physically limited, anyone can learn to play. It requires a great deal of time to play well (hundreds and thousands of hours), and focused practice.

A decent guitar helps too. They are easier on the hands and fingers than cheapies.

Well, I suppose in your case that maxim seems to apply. Try the trumpet.

No, No, No. It is learned through diligence and practice. All you need is the passion. You ARE born with those 3 abilities. The talent is just the icing on the cake afterwards which applies to about 2% of players out there.
