The best way I have found to boil eggs is to put a pin prick in the more pointed end which allows air to escape and fewer shells are cracked when you boil them. I put the eggs in cold water, completely covering them, set them to a rapid boil, take off the heat, cover and let cool off for 15 minutes. I then rinse in cool water and usually add ice cubes to the last cool water rinse because I always forget to made hard boiled eggs early enough.

You can add vinegar to the cold water when you first start to boil the eggs.

You need to leave the eggs out until they reach room temp and then place them in room temp water then boil at medium heat.  Egglands best seem to be best at not breaking.

Place fresh eggs in cold tap water, bring to a full boil for app 4 minutes, cover and let them cool for app 10 minutes. then rinse in cold tap water. Results are usually 10 out of 12 or better.
