DVR recordings

Does anyone know if a DVR is encrypted so your recorded shows or movies cant be copied?  Wondering if and how my stuff can be copied to a DVD for me to give to my granddaughter to see at her home?  Cant figure out how to hook up my DVD recorder to do this or if its possible...

I recently ran into this same problem, it's not your DVR that's encripted, it's the program or material that is being feed to it. You can however record onto VHS. As soon as I figure it out I will let you know as far as recording onto DVD.
