Can you write mutliple times on a dvd rw, keeping the info currently on it and adding to?

No

when writing for a second... third fourth... times to the rewritable dvd 

firsts it asks you to format it, i.e delete whatever is already on it

So when you begin to "add" to it after it finished burning for the 2nd time, it wont do it until you format
