Usually when people think their dog has hemmoroids it's actually an infected anal gland. This is treated with antibiotics and there's not much you can do about it at home, so I suggest you take your dog to the vet.

I've read on a forum that dogscan't get what we like to think of as hemmroids, however, they are treated similarly with light doses of human hemmroid cream and putting the dog on a blander diet.

umm yes, dogs can too get hemmoriods though it's extrememly rare...it's usually something else.  For those that say they can't, research it on the web.  You need to take your dog to the Vet.  IF it is a hemmoriod, they can sometimes just tell you to use the same cream that you would use on yourself.  Hemmoriods in dogs are NOT life threatening (I've seen some people say they are and they are incorrect), though if left untreated for a long period of time it can lead to cancer.

my whippet greyhound mix has an anal gland problem. the glands sometimes have a problem expressing them selves when the dog goes potty, as a result they can "back up" with fluid and eventually become infected! (not pretty).. glands are located at 4o'clock and 8 o'clock in the dogs rectum. youll need to express them yourself at home to releive them for your dog,(use gloves)... or take them to the vet probably for the remainder of the dogs life if its like mine. my dog scootches her rump across my carpet alot, especially when shes excited, used to think this was worms...its not. also a higher fiber diet may help, to increase stool size as this will help express the glands during bowel movement.

my cocker spaniel has had varying colors of diarrhea over the last 6 days.  Today she started whining and draging her bum on the carpet.  When I went to look at her sphincter, she yelped and tried to bite me, but I could see what looked like a bunch of hemerrhoids protruding about a half of an inch.  right now she's sleeping next to me, but I wasn't sure if I should take her to the vet for hemerrhoids or if I should wait...

i don't know, i want to know if my dog has hemorrhoids

Dog hemorrhoids usually occur in the rectum or anus.Like human hemorrhoids, dog hemorrhoids too require proper medical attention, and treatment usually varies depending on the severity of the condition.

External dog hemorrhoids can be treated by creams and conservative management.Internal dog hemorrhoids are treated by suppository.Apart from treating the hemorrhoids, vets also prescribe an antibiotic course for 14 days to ensure there is no infection.Vets also put dogs with recurrent hemorrhoids on a high fibre diet to make the stool bulkier and make the glands express themselves during defecation.

I have heard that there are several surgical treatments for hemorrhoids and that they are quite successful. However, I am not a big fan of surgery. Are there any natural treatments that work?
