I believe your pet is upset about the changes in the situation of your life that he, or she has become accustom. Think about anything you have done that isn't consistent with the past 5 yrs. Dogs have anxiety too.

Why would a dog owner think he can find out what's wrong on AOL instead of taking the dog to a vet?

Your dog could just have a simple bladder infection.
