Just take it to the county landfill.  Most of these places have tanks for dead motor oil and watery diesel.  They don't pitch it: they re-refine it.  That helps pay for part of the operation of the dump.

I use Amzoil in all my rigs. With petroleum based oils you can get about 3,000 miles per oil change. Pure synthetic (Mobil 1, etc) is good for 15,000 miles. The oil itself doesn't break down. The multigrade additive breaks down. It gets thicker as it gets hotter.
