It sounds like to confront is to be more level-headed and to argue about it usually gets everything heated and loud and anger follows etc...Just my opinion.

Confrontation is to face or challenge, and an argument is a debate or dispute with words. Neither of which has to be heated or voilent. But often is.

When two lawyers bring trial to court, they argue the law. When my wife needs the garbage out, we argue who will take it out. I obey her law so she don't kill me or scream at me.....hehe

In common jargon, I would think "confrontation" implies hostility with the threat of action. "Argument" simply a difference.

THAT WHICH DOESN'T KILL YOU MAKES YOU STRONGER. Bull. Reality is, it will usually hurt like hell and leave you with a permanent limp.

George, Yet another good and witty answer! Smile

Hey Baller. I don't think there is much difference, there's a fine line.  In an arguement both people, or all involved are basically saying "I am right and you are wrong."..(Defense Defense) In a confrontational situation we are also basically saying "I am right and you are wrong.".. the only difference is that we come at our target as the offense, sometimes with a blind-side where we start with the advantage.

Unless our confrontation turns into an arguement.. well, then we just started something! Lol!

What I like to do is start any type of confontation gently, saying something like; "you know I love you, right?" Or "You know I think you're a really smart person, right?"  Then explain what's on my mind... keeping cool and in control of the situation. If they start to fight or get defensive, I will ask them to just think about what I said.. tell them we can talk more later and walk away.

Confrontation without stirring up an arguement really takes patience and an amount of skill to be effective... and especially to get the results you hope to achieve. Like I said, because I have been a target and a spectator... there's a very fine line between the two.

Take care. Smile
