I would like to know the best forms of discipline ...

I would like to know the best forms of discipline for a child with autism.  I have a friend who beats, yells at, calls names, and curses at her autistic son.  She is a single mom raising him and I know it is hard, but I would like to give her some logical advise and I don't really know too much about autism.  Everytime I try to tell her something that I read or heard about to help her, she just says "yeah I've already tried that it doesn't work for him".  I am afraid her son is very confused and she is making it worse.  He is an agressive child and has tantrums all the time.

Donna Lynne is right on. Is your friend hooked up with resources for caregivers of autistic kids? Have you called Child Protective Services? It sounds like she is at least verbally abusing him.

FrownCrySurprisedYell There's some emotions on this.Beats, yells, curses, calls names to autistic son? Can you say EVIL?  You feel bad because she's a single mom raising him? I feel bad for the kid and maybe she should not be raising him. This is a very disturbing question. You wouldn't be asking this if it wasn't bothering you so I think you know what you have to do.

Nothing ticks me off more than hearing about an adult abusing a child in any way, shape or form.  I have no empathy for the adult once things have turned violent. There is no discussion here. You should have notified child protective services at the first sign of abuse.  You cant be a friend to someone who abuses children until she gets help and stops her own negative behavior.  The child already has enough to work through with autism, without adding layers of emotional abuse, the absence of love and violence to the picture.  Theres the phone. Start dialing.
