why do cats go away for a few days then vanish. My big boy lucky used to go away for few days at a time and be at door round midnight and being sucker i am i fed him and i waited for him. This time it been 5days and he aint come. We want him back as we miss him and may be moving house in few weeks is there hope for him

As usual for all males he's on the prowl for SEX.  If he finds it he might be gone longer than his average disappearance.  He'll come back when he is hungry for food.  Sometimes having him "fixed" will help to keep him home.  If you move before he comes back just go to your old neighborhood every day to look for him.  Eventually you'll find him.  Good luck. --- C1

He probablly found what he was looking for and is quite content until hunger sets in.  Then he goes home again.
