If you have a disable child how long do you have to wait for your first check after paperwork has been filed?

Answers

There is no really precise answer to your question.   The key factor is that Social Security has to make a determination that the child is disabled and unable to perform age-appropriate activities under the parameters of the law.

That can take as little as a couple of months and as much as years.   There is the initial claim and 4 levels of appeal if the case is denied.

When and if they determine that the child is disabled under the law, the first check is generally received within a month.
