Why do people say, when someody dies that he or she will be in a better place? People say that he/she are looking down at you and all that crap.
I think that most people are afraid of death. Saying that the dead person is in a better place makes THEM feel better. Hearing that has never made me feel better. And, the truth is, if they will allow themselves to admit it, they really have no clue what happens when we die. They just like to have answers to questions. Religions are great at giving answers to the tough questions. But, we won't know until it happens to us.
Can people in heaven look down and see us?

Dear kloz12, In our family we rely on the faith we were raised with. I don't push those beliefs on anyone, but I certainly offer them as options to explore if you're truly looking for answers and not just inciting hostile conversation, as can be the case on these forums. I'm not afraid to die. I don't want it to happen anytime soon, mind you! My belief in Jesus Christ insures me a place in heaven. That fact I can take to the grave with me. As for what happens right after I get there, I have no clue. There are many interpretations for that coming from the Bible. I'm up for the surprise. Sitting in church every Sunday doesn't make you any a good Christian than sitting in your garage makes you a good mechanic. You have to work at it. I suggest to you, as I have with my own sons, to visit different faiths. Keep looking, keep asking. Something will ring true to your soul. But there is something better after this. I promise. Bless you on your journey.
My religion allows me to believe that there will be a better place for me. However, if you are not a religious person and have seen the remains of those who died, you have to know that for them, there will no longer be headaches, backaches, bills, bad bosses or bad luck. Until that time comes we must stay on the roller coaster of life and enjoy the ups.
We all want to believe that our loved ones are cared for in death as well as in life. We all have our own ideas on where we go when we die. I happen to believe too, that we all go to a better place when we die. But, this is only my belief and one that I force upon no one. As far as looking down upon the living, again, I believe that when we first die we do look down as we are moving upwards, (I hope moving upwards) When my Dad died as I was leaving the hospital room I could feel him following me to the elevator to go home.
