Can we die in our dreams?

Someone asked the question, “Why do we not die in our dreams.” I have a theory. Most of the dreams or nightmares that I’ve had where I thought I was going to die were very intense and or traumatic. I have never had a dream where I was laying in a bed waiting to die. So if most dreams of being in a situation where you are about to die are frightening or traumatic, I think it’s the fear of being killed and all the movement in your body that wakes you up. So if that is the case, then you may never die in your dream. On the other hand, maybe it’s true that if you do manage to die in your dream, then you really die. What do you think?

Interesting idea but I think the whole thing is just an old wives tale. I know personally I've died in my dreams many times.

I don't see how something going on in your mind could kill you physically. Only a physical incident can kill a physical body. That's why voodoo and all sorts of sorcery and witchcraft do not work, right?
