You will go to court or in front of a judge if it is contested or not and the final judgement will be rendered. You will know because you will be there and your lawyer will inform you.

When you get your final divorce papers, the divorce is then final.

Are we talking legally final, or emotionally final?

Your divorce legally final when you file your mutually agreed upon divorce papers into the state department of public record.

Emotionally? When you can date without feeling like you're cheating.
