Should I destroy my diaries

I kept a diary in the late 70's and ended up destroying it and deep inside kind of regretted it at times.  Since the late 80's I have kept my diaries thru the 2000's and then stopped writing.  I look at the cabinet where I keep them stored and think about getting rid of them as well, as I'm not sure if I really want them around after I'm gone.  I did this morning go thru them and read where I was at then compared to now.  They were hard times for me back then and I needed them for therapy.  Should I destroy them?  Or should I start another chapter in my life and write about them?  Do I even want to go back there?  I could use some advice...

Keep a diary if it helps you. It sounds as if you benefit from them - from both writing them & being able to read them again years later.

If you wrote something that you don't want others to see or read then yes.

I vent in diaries too..however I usually destroy the bad things I write and leave the good and okay.
