Can anyone please describe a Gnarf? I keep hearing about Gnarfs when people drop things on their feet. They say "Gnarf" (if not something slightly worse). If anyone has a good description of a ...

The word is 'narf'. It originally came from a rather good cartoon show called Pinky and the Brain. It was a word used by Pinky to describe accidents, surprise, humor, sort of an all purpose word.

Isn't that something like "Bowb" in "Bill, the galactic hero?"

Bill might snap "Bowb you!" or "Bowb off!" to an unruly recruit or "Oh Bowb!" when a bomb goes off next to his position.

Alas, such obscenities never made much of an impression on me.  I remember a retired Marine who signed on with us.  He told me that as an insubordinate recruit, his drill instructor threatened to have him reduced to Sailor . . ..
