I want to open a deer processing business. Do I have to be state license or be state inspected in the state of Illinois?
I think you need to call the State of Illinois Licensing Department and inquire from them if you need a license and if so, what are the requirements.
I suggest you contact this company or a similar one and ask them your questions. I am almost certain you will need to be licensed and state inspected.
I'm from IL and, let's face it, we can't make a move here without being licensed and taxed. I pay a fee every year to the local Police Department, just because I have a monitored (not by them) security system for my home. After all, they "might" have to come out some day if I get broken into. The logic here escapes me. (Sorry for the venting) Anyway, I would definitely check with the State and your local government who also may have fees and inspection rules.
All laws should apply, same as beef or pork. Usually deer can not be processed in the same place as beef or pork so if you just do deer it should be easier. Check with your state.
