Can you deduct the cost of tree removal from your primary residence due to storm?

Is there a tax deduction for tree removal due to lightening strike that split trunk? It cost $4000 to remove and $850 to plant a new tree, in addition to the loss of value to my property as the tree was the only large tree and provided shade as well as visual appeal.

Did you find out?

Karma's a b*tch.

No, I did not find an answer yet.

That's a great question.  I'm not sure if tree trimming can be deducted here in Minnesota or not, but it might vary from state to state.  It would be worth checking specific tax laws just to make sure.
