Will dealmaking save the US green techologies?

If your referring to deal making in the political sense, then God only knows what can happen in the U.S. after this most recent display of ineptitude by our elected representatives this past week over the budget. In my opinion we need to set into law a new National energy policy, that puts us on a 50 year plan and sets aggressive targets for us as a country to convert over to green renewable technologies. All of these nay-sayiers that say we will have to give up so much are full of it. We won't. What we will be able to give up is nuclear energy, and eventually foreign oil. All manufacturing takes oil, don't kid yourself. But in the U.S.A., we can maintain and grow our standard of living, create jobs, install a new electrical grid, replace nuclear power. This can be done with solar, wind, wave power, and natural gas. We can do this in 30 years. Plus have the country working at full steam for that period of 30 years as well.  

Sounds like a conservative plan. Appreciate positive long term solutions.
