Discuss Bonestructure's answer to: Is dating haram in Islam?

Now be honest. You're a young guy, you think of sex. That's normal. And it's good that you want to know and respect the whole woman. That's a good start. I know of no laws in Islam that prohibit dating, provided your intentions are honorable. Though if you and the girl happen to be different sects of Islam, there could be some serious problems. I'm no expert on Islam. I'm just more understanding of it and willing to answer honest questions about it than most here. To my understanding, the only prohibition I know of is that you must never dishonor the girl or her family. If there was a girl you wished to date in particular, I believe the best thing to do would be to speak to her father and ask his permission.
