The local unemployment office in my area is not hiring but they are looking for volunteers to help with their over load of paper work; could doing this be a good way to get an inside track on a possible future position? I do have a clerical background.
Absolutely. You never know what kind of a connection you may make with someone from the office. You know what they say, it's not what you know but who you know. True statement, often.
Besides, you're not currently employed so what do you have to lose?
i would take the job it sounds like a good start.
