That's a hard question, because every family is different. I think it depends on your child's (or should I say young adult) attitude and work ethic. If they are in college, and or have a strenuous job, long hours. Anything of that nature they shouldn't be "cut off" yet and they shouldn't have to move out at that time either. I think that's a horrible term. Although I was allowed to stay at home as long as I wanted to, no matter what. But I was an only child, and I was a very well behaved person and my parents loved having me around and they didn't want me to "leave the nest" ever.

Children are brought into this world and it's not by their choice, it's the parents, however, many parents are not ready for the changes that having children brings to the table. I think if you do your job properly raising them, there will not have to be a " cut off"..your children will wean themselves..that is if you did your job correctly...this does not apply to those who are physically/mentally challenged....
