Is being gay something you can grow out of?
1 Corinthians 6:9-11 in the Bible reads "Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men[a] 10 no1 Corinthians 6:9-11 in the Bible reads "Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the r thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. Being gay is a sin.
There are some people who are born with a tendency to be gay just like there are people who are born with a tendency to become alcoholics, maybe because they come from a family of alcoholics. But just like an alcoholic can chose a different path, so can a gay person.
By the way. A homosexual is someone who prefers their own sex. So a woman or a man who prefers their sex is a homosexual. A homosexual man was known as a queer, a female homosexual was known as a lesbian, but both were homosexuals. Since the word "queer" means strange, it was changed a few years ago to gay men being called homosexuals and gay women being called lesbians. "Homosexuals and Lesbians". But both are "gay" and both are "homosexuals". The difference was made because gay men did not like being called "strange".
When a slave owner strikes a male or female slave with a rod and the slave dies immediately, the owner shall be punished. But if the slave survives a day or two, there is no punishment; for the slave is the owner's property. (Exod. 21:20-21)<
By what interpretation is this passage NOT supporting slavery? I am so sick of hypocritical people using conveniently using the Bible when it supports their Bigotry then ignoring other passages with equal fervor.
DEFEND THAT !!
Slaves, obey your earthly masters with fear and trembling, in singleness of heart, as you obey Christ; not only while being watched, and in order to please them, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart. (Eph. 6:5-6)
Tell slaves to be submissive to their masters and to give satisfaction in every respect; they are not to talk back, not to pilfer, but to show complete and perfect fidelity, so that in everything they may be an ornament to the doctrine of God our Savior. (Titus 2:9-10)
Slaves, accept the authority of your masters with all deference, not only those who are kind and gentle but also those who are harsh. For it is a credit to you if, being aware of God, you endure pain while suffering unjustly. If you endure when you are beaten for doing wrong, what credit is that? But if you endure when you do right and suffer for it, you have God's approval. (1Pet. 2:18-29)
From the Christian Bible, as opposed to the satanic (Catholick) bible that the satanist posted above:
Eph 6:5-6
Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;
Titus 2:9-10
Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again;
10Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.
1Pet. 2:18-29
Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward.
19For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully.
20For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.
21For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
22Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
23Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:
24Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
25For ye were as sheep going astray; but are now returned unto the Shepherd and Bishop of your souls.
Repent, you filthy satanists!
Atheist games are as obvious and boring as ever. That is why we who can think consider atheists the least educated buffoons in the prison system.
They belong there, but nowhere else.
Standard atheist games only prove that atheists are utterly ignorant and shall remain the object of ridicule that their substandard cult made them all.
See how that fact settles out every time, Physicalist etc?
Until our sole mindless atheist becomes a spiritual man, he will remain as dull, ignorant, and predictable as any other atheist bum.
I've noticed that the majority of people either don't respond because they can't rationally defend their position (LadyE), or simply result to name calling (Norman).
If you read those verses carefully, you will see that God is not condoning slavery. He is giving instructions. But to understand these instructions, we need a little history.
This book was written by Paul the apostle to Titus in the Greco-Roman era. In this period of past events, everyone had slaves. Even slaves had slaves. Slaves were given a chose to leave after a certain amount of service to their masters, but most slaves would chose to stay with them, especially if they were treated well. A lot of them, called in the Bible as bondslaves, were slaves born in the household and became part of the family.
Paul is not speaking to all slaves here, he is speaking to Christian slaves. Paul’s objective here is to bring order to the believers in order to avoid conflicts. He started out by giving instruction to the elders, “he must be the husband of one wife“, etc. Then he gave instructions to the men, women and ended with instructions to the slaves.
Now remember, Paul is speaking to Christian slaves with Christian masters. These Christian Masters were given the instructions to “be self-controlled, in everything set an example by doing good. In your integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us -- verse 6. With these instructions it’s safe to say that they were not to mistreat the servants. Yet some slaves were talking back to them, and stealing.
So Paul set up these structures so that they would be able to live in harmony. Even today, no boss will allow you to speak back to them or steal from them. You will be reprimanded or even fired.
And don’t forget the Abolition Movement where many Christians lost their money, homes, and even their lives in order to stop slavery. These men and women were motivated by their love of God and His Word.
In Billy Grahams Biography it reads that when he first begun to preach, he would give the orders that unless the doors were open to all people regardless of race or status, he would not go on stage. The doors were open to all. And this before The Civil Rights was created.
And yes, I do respond, but as you know, it's Christmas time and I've been extra busy.
"Lady"E is a lying anti-Christian. The Christian Bible has only two occurrences of the word "slave": Rev 18:13 and Jeremiah 2:14 . In fact, the later makes a distinction between a slave and a servant! Remember heathens, if it's not KJV1611, it's not the Christian Bible, and anyone who sites anything from Catholic bibles is no more a Christian than any other satanist/unbeliever.
Repent, you lying satanists!
Dixon
Lady E - Good reply. It's amazing how many ways things can be interpreted. Perhaps the word slavery does simply mean servant or somethnig lesser. Okay. So we choose argue hyperbole whenever the Bible doesn't fit our current morality or scientific knowledge, then at the same time argue against hyperbole when regarding miracles like walking on water, Noahs ark, the ressurection, Jonah and the Whale, the Walls of Jericho, Soddom and Gommorrah, Adam and Eve, etc.
So which is it? Is it hyperbole or not. you can't constantly pick and choose to suit your needs.
You said "Paul is speaking to Christian slaves with Christian masters." How does that the nature of slavery? One person is still owned by another. Are any slaves of Christians not labeled Christian slaves? Christians immediately "convert" anyone they control in order to "save" them anyways.
There is incentive to treat slaves well so that they can work more. That's a far cry from being anti-slavery.
And Dixon, who among us can keep up with the bazillion versions of Christianity. Is god a trinity or not a trinity, etc etc etc. You all think you're the singular truth, which only emphasizes the folly of you. It's akin to accepting that Santa is real but hating each other over whether or not the sleigh bells are gold or silver. YOU BELIEVE IN SANTA!! Everything beyond that is insignificant by comparison.
If we want to go down the path of this word didn't carry this certain connotation then here is my argument...Maybe when the bible says man shouldn't lie with other men, the word "man" meant mankind. And what God therefore meant was and human beings of earth (mankind) we should not have sex with Aliens from other planets.
Do you see how far these injectures of hyperbole can go?
Read the Bible, heathen!
