Cross country move - how to do it with two cats?

I have two cats and will be moving from the east to the west coast. Trains and buses don't allow pets, I am traveling alone and want to bring my cats on an airplane but they will only let me have one in the cabin. I'm scared to death to have them go in the cargo hold, as so many animals die. Any suggestions as to what airline, trainline, busline will allow pets? Driving cross country is very difficult by yourself.

Hithere! I understand this is a major "move." you have to decide what is it that you "must" do. If U have to leave, then you must make choices that you don't like, but will get U were U must be. I have a daughter that has shipped puppies very many times to owners by plane. they are very careful w/pet's. The cargo area is A/C and comfortable. If you could arrange a time when your pet cd. sleep, arrange a comfty area, cover most of the cage w/ non see through air-breatheable fabric, your pet w/ i'm sure be fine, it's you that must face the few options and just do it.  You could rent a car and drive! or advertise if time allows to ride w/ a retired couple heading west. Not many options, fly your kittie, and when U land, all will be fine and you'll all be together, safely. hope it helps you...Embarassed
