A cousin is a specific type of "relative". Relative is someone that is related to you within your family. Cousin is a sun (or daughter) of your uncle or your aunt.

A first cousin is the son or daughter of your aunt and uncle. A first cousin once removed is the child of your first cousin. A second cousin is the child of you parent's first cousin.
