frisse - please --tell me what this product is & where can I find it. it is listed as an ingredient in a recipe I just found. from: granmare6@aol.com
Frisse falls into the lettuce family it is also known as the curly endive, it's attractive delicate feathery leaves tickle the palate. Has a nutty-bitter flavor and combines well with iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, hard boiled eggs and bacon bits.
Curly endive, or frisée (var crispum). This type has narrow, green, curly outer leaves. Sometimes called chicory in the U.S and is called chicorée frisée in French. Further confusion results from the fact that frisée also refers to a technique in which greens are lightly wilted with oil.
Hope this helped.
Good luck and best wishes,
