Hi
Its very simple realy. Most cooking pots are intended for use on a stove (most stoves are round) for the heat to warm the pot as evenly as can be.

hi
So, why the stoves are round. I thing square stove will warm the pot (if they will be square as well) the same.
eph
Its like asking, who came first? The chicken or the egg?
hi again,
Is it the same? Can you do something about ?
The round pots are waste of place on the stove, on the table, in the refrigerator, in kitchen cupboards ect.
So why the pots are still not square ?
I believe all cooking vessels, bowls and pots included, are round mainly for easy stirring and mixing.
Its because the manufacturing of round pots is much simpler and of course much less costly. Square pots must be shaped by very expensive dies using special alloys of stainless steel. Round pots are shaped on lathes in an almost hands-free process. The same goes, of course, for the covers. In addition, pyrex pots and trays that are easily molded comes in rectangular and square shapes
thanks
The cost issue is a silly explanation... imagine you are cooking oatmeal... the thick gooey stuff has to be striied constantly or else... burn baby burn. How could you easily stir the contents of a square pan? The pots are round because it makes the most sense.
