Convertible or Infant Car Seat?

Infant car seats are considered more convenient for sure since you don't have to buckle and unbuckle baby each time you leave or arrive at your destination. Convertible car seats can be used rear-facing and are rated with minimum weights so that you can use them with a newborn. It is difficult, however, to find a convertible seat that fits your newborn as well as it will fit your toddler. The straps are sometimes wider, the strap positions aren't low enough, the crotch strap doesn't fit as snug and so on for newborns. For this reason, some child passenger safety advocates actually think infant car seats are safer for newborns because the safest car seat is always the one that fits your vehicle AND your child best.

Convertible, right away.  Can use one of those padded things to maintain good alignment for the infant, OR a small/thin towel will work well too. Hope this helps.  Katie
