How do I connect a laptop to my desktop so that I can download a driver it needs to connect to the internet?

Download the driver, burn it on a CD and transfer it to the other computer. Much better that way, then you have a copy of it. I personally have several external hard drives I use to transfer data between my desktop and laptop as well as for backups.

If a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, then that makes me a burning truck filled with TNT hurtling through a rocket fuel depot.

Even easier than burning to a CD (does anyone burn to CD these days?) do as Bonestructure suggests, but use a USB memory stick instead.

 

Whatever you do, don't try linking your laptop to your PC directly via the USB sockets..... You will destroy one or the other - or both!!!!
