You're going to get a lot of response on your post.

Let me suggest if you are really serious about finding a religion, prepare yourself to do a lot of studying! Start with some books that describe all the world's faiths in general and then pursue in depth those you  find compelling.

Having said that I must tell you that I have concluded that Catholicism is the Truth for me. Just so you know where I'm coming from.

I commend you for your courageous post. May God guide you in your search.

KR,  You could look for a school in your area that teaches a class about religions of the world.  There are also plenty of websites that you can read to learn about different faiths.  Here is one good website for you.

Search for the different websites and do a lot of reading.  You are sure to find just the right type of faith that is right for you.

I would suggest that you look for a religion which seems most appealing to you.  Then make an appointment to speak with the pastor. You will usually be met with open arms.

Hi KR

It is refreshing to read a question so honest.  First off you should be searching for God not a religion.  A religion can miss lead you.  If you are looking for a denomination, they can be very confusing.  In the Holy Bible there are Pharisees that are very religious and they had our Savior hung on the Cross, but they did not realize that is what it was all about.  All of the different religions of this world are all about oneself and mind control, (by someone else).

You was talking about a higher power, that is God our Father and Jesus and our belief in Him is the only way to make it to Heaven. (John 14:6)  That is where your Faith comes in, you must first believe that He is the way.

I pray that you find Truth in all things that you search, it either be good or bad, but that you find the Right Way, which is Jesus.

Have a great day!

Judy,

I respect your answer and I agree. I believe KR is looking for a "religion" in the sense that it will lead her to God and spiritual fulfillment. "Religion" can mean many things.

Many people have found God in organizied religion while others have used it as a crutch or facade.

God bless us all; and my prayers go out to KR.

KR,  I guess I come from a different angle than most of the other answere.  If you have been brought up believing in some kind of religion there must be some thoughts you have.  Do you believe in Jesus and Heaven, then you would look toward a Christian type church.  If you don't believe that Jesus was the son of God maybe a Jewish Synagog.  You may not believe in God at all, maybe something else.  I would suggest you do a little studying about basic beliefs.  Then try some of the worship centers that teach what you already believe.  If you do a lot of searching first, then you will surely get confused and maybe end up where you are.  When you find a place that you are comfortable in take a good look at what the doctrine is.  Do you believe it is correct and make sense?  Can you follow what the orginazation believes you should.  If you have problems there go on a quest, because your future will depend on your faith.  For me, a Christian, the only way I will get to be with God is believe in Jesus, His son.  But, many years ago a person of another religion told me that God in His infinite wisdom made many paths so humankind  will have no excuse to turn away.  So he created many paths to His doorway.

KR,

It is really hard to share with someone who has no background of religion. You say you have faith, so I know that God will lead you in the right direction. There are many religions out there, just as there was in Christ's time. If you have a bible, just start reading it and praying about everything you read. The bible is God's letter to his children. There is so much deception in the world today, it is really hard to know who to believe and what to read. Just back up everything you hear or read with the bible. If it is not in the bible, then it is probably not the truth. Times are getting tough and time is ticking down to the return of Christ. There are many signs of His return and it is all recorded in the bible. I wish you had a particular question that you would want to ask. If a prophecy cannot be documented in God's Word, then I would question if it was the truth. There is so much truth and life in the word of God. Without a particular question, I would just say, read the word and absorb it and pray. God will open up his word to you. He loves all of his children and we are all here for a purpose.

Dear KR,

When we are on our way and we get to a point that we we don't know is it the right route to our destination or no than we have to stop the engine and take a moment to think and search for the truth, witch I think that you are at this point now, and  my advice to you to take benefits from other's experiences -not to start from the beginning and loose your time witch is your life you need to enjoy it- so there is a religion is the fastest growing religion in the earth, is calling to worship only one god -no sons- since he create us and all human been and creations with no exceptions including all - I mean all- messengers, this religion is only talking logically to the mind, and has a lots of true miracles to proof his credibility,

My dear,

since there is only one god, then there is only one way ( all other ways were expired 14 century ago), and the most valuable thing for any one is himself, so gain your time use other's effort to reach the trues and joint them,

this my sincere advice and experiences

Thanks

Raouf

Dear searching. All "religion" is man made. there is only one church, the church of Christ. Attended and man'ed by People called after its purpose. They were first called christians at Antioc. Not Baptist, not Methodist, not Seventh day adventist. My suggestion to you is to find a church that preaches the gospel as writen. Search the scriptures to prove what they say is either right or wrong. Then, align yourself with a people or group that is openly seeking to please God. It is important that you not be led by man's opinion but by the word.  God say's, to study to show yourself approved of God, rightly dividing the word of God, unashamed of your election to follow Christ. Not man. The Bible say's to work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. A spiritual command, not secular. Obey the word. Not the world and its rituals.
