My Confidence is Crap. I Don't Know Why

My boyfriend said to me on Skype today after an argument between us: I just feel like youre not even trying to over come your sensitivity issues with jokes.. everytime someone says something about you, you take it to heart, even when theyre completely wrong or joking. i can't believe you would even post on websites asking if you're ugly, or how you need to change your apperance, because youre seriously breath takingly gorgeous, and i can't believe you dont realize that. You can't let the haters get to you :( youre fucking amazing and you should know it. i just cant believe that if someone told you you were fat you would believe it.. youre not even remotely close to being fat, and you dont realize that some people are just gonna hate for the sake of hating

I just don't understand why my confidence has always been so low. I don't know how to fix it either. Even after my boyfriend said all of that, I actually asked him why he was over exaggerating on things.. he got even more upset

So I got me a pen and a paper, and I made up my own little sign. I said, "Thank you Lord, for thinkin' about me, I'm alive and doin' fine."

repeatedly tell yourself what your boyfriend told you....your are gorgeous...within a few days you will start believing the same.....and your confidence would return.

You NEED people to say great things about you. Don't deny it. Everybody loves to have people tell them how handsome of beautiful they are. I'm pretty sure anyway, not that anyone's ever said it to ME. But if you really do have confidence issues, then get yourself some help. May I suggest you take a look at assertiveness training classes. Maybe take some debate classes. Get out there and learn to deal with people on an equal level.

And consider yourself fortunate that you have a boyfriend who is at least TRYING to support you and build you up. Even if he is doing it in a somewhat oafish way. Most men wouldn't bother, sadly.

If a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, then that makes me a burning truck filled with TNT hurtling through a rocket fuel depot.

He's trying to fill you up but you are a bottomless pit - always needing more reassurance. He gets frustrated.  It is not his job to make you feel better about yourself.  It is your job.  Get counseling. You need to take steps yourself to help yourself feel better and gain confidence.
