The first YouTube video was entitled Me at the zoo, and shows founder Karim at the San Diego Zoo. The video was uploaded on April 23, 2005, and can still be viewed on the site.

YouTube’s founders Chad Hurley and Steve Chen may have bought the site’s domain back on February 14, 2005, but the first video wasn’t uploaded to the site until several months later. That video, entitled Me at the Zoo, was uploaded five years ago today, on April 23, 2005. The video, shot by Yakov Lapitsky, features third co-founder Jawed Karim talking about the wonders of elephants at the San Diego Zoo.

The fist video on played on youtube was entitled "me at the zoo". This video is being recognized as Youtube sensations by the critics.
