And that's a legitimate question. Here's the scoop... you can open and operate your own web site but there are limitations. A free site will not allow any selling at all, you get a provider domain name like: (http://www.yourname .domain name.com instead of www.yourname.com).. you are limited to space/pages.. htz and gadgets.. your limited to pre-created pages.. You also must share your pages with your providers advertisements. No substantial way to get your site out to the public (instead, you have to rely on such sites as facebook, etc. to bring in visitors). If your only interested in making your site and sharing it with friends and family then the free site is your best choice.. Check out this free site that offers a good bit of tools to work with..
