My laptop had some freezing issues before, but after a thorough clean-up, the problem was solved...What about blue screen error? What does this indicate? Is it a hardware issue or a software concern?

A blue screen usually indicates a hardware problem that is probably associated with sector damage to your hard disc. Gewt someone to check it.

Yeah the freezing bit usually indicates the hard drive going bad but you say it works better after a clean up so maybe its not hard drive. Go to windows update and download every update they offer you, also do a defrag and while your at it download malware bytes and run that a couple of times to make sure its clear of any bugs

BSOD generally appears due to installation of outdated or corrupt drivers or corrupt Windows registry.

Updating the drivers and repairing registry errors may resolve the BSOD problem.
