If your computer is a desktop, you need to buy and install a modem. Not a great expense. If you're on a laptop, I have no idea.

If a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, then that makes me a burning truck filled with TNT hurtling through a rocket fuel depot.

Try going to geeks.com and checking out their routers. They require an ethernet and probably a broadband which you can get from Virgin or Cricket.
