generally, computer science deals more with programming and strictly software, and computer engineering deals more with the computer hardware, the physics and engineering involved, etc.

For both, Computer Science (CS) and Computer Engineering (CE), the basics and the outline is almost the same but core subjects and their focus of emphasis would differ. A computer science degree emphasizes on theoretical aspects of computation and programming and includes courses in programming, database management and networking administration. CE degree focuses on the practical aspects of development and usage of computers and includes the study of hardware, unlike CS.
