That is far more possible than one would imagine !.  Those who know Rusia and the way there leaders are thinking (and the "pride" they lost) know that it is very possible. 

Let's hope that they are smart enough not to try again with an experiment that failed.  Of course, leftists haven't been right yet, but that is why we call them leftists.

Russia should exercise good sense and align itself with the USA in defending against Korea, and idiotic Iran. Considering what pathetic and antiquated  defense systems Russia currently has. A unity with NATO and the rest of Europe would be the smarter move. Not only for it's own defenses, but for a more stable economic stability than it has today.

All this talk of returning to the 'Cold War' ...is just noise being made by the 'old guard' of Russia. Whom miss their old elite hierarchy from back in the old days. Turning back the clock now to the 'good ol' days' for a handful of war mongers would be just plain stupid!

The Soviet Union collapsed in 1991 after seventy-three years of depravity, barbarism, absolute corruption, and tyranny. The sheer brutality of their corrupt regime was an obscenity that the entire world came to despise, for clear cause.

This was a hotbed of profiteering that communists were all too keen to deny, even in the face of damning evidence.  The Soviet Black Market and Russian Mafia were the true controllers of the Soviet Union, while the Politburo merely served in a slave capacity to their infamously brutal racketeering.

Those who got all their power freom that sheer criminal corruption want it back.  They have found that people who are allowed to think for themselves will not do the bidding of the Obturika (neighborhood Godfather). 

For communism and its necessary racketeering to work, they need to eliminate all mention of law, force utter chaos on the people, reduce their sheep to starvation, and then fleece them mercilessly, precisely as they did under the Soviet Union.

There is no question that the greediest and most power mad despots want to go back to their former wealth and power.  The world cannot afford that obscenity.  If there is any peace in that, tell me how to find it.

I don't believe they want the cold war again.  If memory serves, they lost Cold War 1.  What would make them think they could win Cold War II?  This time, they might worry that we won't play as nice as we did last time.

We handled them with kid gloves last time.  They know we also have iron gauntlets and just might use them.

We may find out, and if we do, I dearly pity Russia.  Their Naval stats make them one of the very weakest nations on the planet, with the bulk of their submarine and destroyer fleet sunk at the docks of Murmansk and Kam Ranh Bay, Vietnam (liability that Vietnam was).

The Russian Northern Fleet, established as a modern formation in 1933, is headquartered at Severomorsk and spread around various bases in the Murmansk area. This is the main fleet of the Russian Navy and as currently consists of;[19]

Their ground forces are in such disarray that I doubt that they could field 10,000 men of all ranks officers included.

Russia is a client state in any rational estimation and they need our protection far more than they know.  It would be sheer madness for them to try anything cute.
