Should all Citizens have the right to vote?

Let Plato speak.

"How can a Society be saved or be strong, except it be led by its wisest men?

Democracy ruins itself by excess...of Democracy. Its basis principle is the equal right of all to hold office and determine public policy. At first glance a good arrangement, but, disastrous because people are not equipped by education to select the best rulers and wisest courses.

Until philosophers are kings or the kings and princes of this world have the spirit and power of philosophy, and wisdom and political leadership meet in the same man, cities will never cease from ill, nor the Human Race."

Winston Churchill once said. "Democracy is the worst form of government that exists. Except for any other kind of government." He's right.

If I can't always dazzle 'em with brilliance, I'll try baffling 'em with BS. Band of None

If you think this question? has any foundation in fact, take a look at what happened to the grecians. They had a form of democratic government for a while, went to a monarchy, and went under to the Romans.

And if you wait for humankind to wise up, you would wait a very long time.  Democracy has a tendency to put the power in the hands of the people and with the secret ballot seeks to provide a collective decision-making that is thought to provide more insight into the nation's rational moves than other systems.  Of course, what I am talking about is populist democracy with small group debates, not representative democracy with television, radio, etc. as we have in the United States today.  I would also mention the question brought up in ancient times, "Who will watch the watchers?"  The answer was all of us.  But today that system has entirely broken down as people are put in charge who never intend to regulate (watch) and others scream lies from the sidelines.  I would say Yes, citizens should be allowed to vote, but the electoral college in the U.S. should be repealed from the U.S. Constitution.

Do not fear.  People can make the right choices.   It is time to move from a mom or dad state where government is the solution, to an individual state where people are the answer, solve their own problems, grow their own lives without the intrusion of government.  Risk can not be removed by government, as govt makes the individual take the final risk, the risk that we loose our freedom.
