Christmas and kangaroos

Google's recent logos are suggesting that there's some link between Christmas  and kangaroos. I was led to believe, by unsubstantiated sources, that in Australia there's no Santa Claus, and instead they have the Christmas Kangaroo. Does anyone know anything about it?

There is no christmas kangaroo in australia.  sorry.  they believe in santa claus, just like we do.

We do have Santa in Australia, but there is a belief that due to the hot weather the reindeers rest while six white boomers take Santa on his Australian run.  A boomer is a male kangaroo
