Why are Christians more ignorant than any other religious group?

I don't know. But you should know that Mormons consider themselves to be Christians, and most are very devout and learn as much as they can, both from the Bible and from The Book of Mormon, which is essentially a text about Jesus bringing his message to the United States.

Because a great many christen take it on faith, and don't bother to study what they are sure they already know, but in fact don't. And in fact. It has been shown that many Christens are just as likely to Mis-quote Scripture, or even quote other things that they thing of as scripture, as they are to actually quote it.

Where as other religions, such as Judaism and Islam actually require scriptural literacy by it's adherences. Christianity has a long history of centralizing scholarly knowledge into it's academic and administrative elite ( the priesthood ) while actively discouraging it in the followers. Under the presumption that a little knowledge is a dangerous thing, and the uninitiated were not equipped to truly understand the true meanings of scripture. ( Something I actually do agree with, but believe the church went in the wrong direction with )

Your assumption is erroneous.

A better question is why unbievers think they know as they stumble over the chief stone they reject.  It would be unfair if only the best "educated" could be saved.

As Ep 2:8-9 says, It is by faith and not of works lest any one could boast.
