You certainly may feed your chicken any greenstuffs not known to be toxic to them.  Tell you what... enclose a section of weedy and grassy field with escape proof wire netting, place a few chickens in it with protective cover and water sources, feed your usual grain diet.  Make sure that coyotes and cooper's hawks can't get at your hens.  In short order there won't be a green thing standing in that pen!  This is a great way to clear a piece of land to prepare it for gardening.  After your seedlings come up, mulch around each one of them say with three inches of mulch and you won't have to worry about encroaching weeds.  The assumption is that you will have moved your chickens to another area or you shall forfeit your garden too!
