Changing Contact Information Under Settings

For the past few months when I signed onto my account AOL has asked me to update my contact info. Finally I put in my first and last name, address, etc.

Now when I sign onto my account under the instant messaenger instead of having my screen name it has my full first and last name. I get a lot of spam email and IMs. I don't want them seeing my first and last name. In fact I would prefer to not have this information on my account at all.

When I try to remove it under settings I am not allowed to save my changes without filling in all the fields which means that from now on I need my full name, address, and phone number on my account.

This account has been cracked or broken into twice over the 10+years I have had it. There is no way I can have my information on here and I would prefer not to delete the account I have had for so long...is there a way around this?

Thanks for your help
