First of all, I'll never know why John Deere is so stingy with information and not willing to help us do-it-yourselfers out. There is nothing on the web and I wasn't about to pay them for any more support information. Here's what I accomplished by many hours wrestling with this thing...
Take the grill and headlight assembly off the mower, 4 bolts and wiring harness (the actual bulbs/sockets twist and come out, leave that all intact). The lens is held in the grill with 6 tabs, 1 in each corner and 2 in the middle. Starting at one side and working from the front, I pushed a small thin knife (screwdriver?) under a tab whilst gently prying outward, pushing downward (upward) on the tab from the back side to relaese the catch until it was free. I shoved something between the lens and grill to keep the catch of the tab from resetting. Then I did the same with corresponding tabs all around. The 2 center tabs release by pushing outward releasing their catch, and the lens popped free. Hope explanation is understandable, this was so easy once i found the secret.
